Lexi Missimo signs with Dallas Trinity FC in USL Super League
One of the most highly-rated players coming out of NCAA soccer has chosen an alternative path to turning pro.

One of the top prospects turning professional out of the United States collegiate soccer (NCAA) has a surprise destination.
Lexi Missimo has signed with Dallas Trinity FC in the USL Super League on a two-and-a-half-year contract through June 2027. She will wear the number 10 shirt, the very same number she wore for four seasons at the University of Texas.
"I cannot be more thankful and proud of myself to be able to represent Dallas and USL, and just growing women's soccer in general. It just means the world to me, no words can describe it, truly," Missimo told Squad Depth.
The USL-SL, currently halfway through its inaugural season, is a relative unknown as a competition. In 2023, U.S. Soccer granted the league Division 1 status in tandem with the existing NWSL, but the USL-SL is yet to offer the same salaries, investment, attendance, or exposure.
Thus, Missimo's signing is somewhat of a disruption from what we have come to expect. It could certainly be viewed as a coup for both the league and the club. Missimo is considered one of the most talented players graduating into professional women's soccer.
Trinity general manager did not disclose any information about Missimo's salary or how it compares to players around the USL-SL, but he did call both her contract and the signing "significant."
"It's certainly significant, and it's a significant signing. I mean, her list of accolades is so long, I think it's safe to say she's the most decorated player [in the USL-SL]."
A future USWNT star?
This January, she was called up to the U.S. women's national team 'futures' camp, and has been a mainstay of the USA's youth national teams, including winning the Concacaf U20 Championship in 2022.
"She wants to play on the national team. She wants opportunities to do that. And part of this was us, us convincing her that she could do that here," said Petrucelli.
The move is also a homecoming. Missimo grew up in Southlake, Texas, north of Dallas. Her family has strong ties to the area, where her father is also a soccer coach. The 22-year-old rose to prominence playing for the highly-regarded youth soccer club Solar.
After high school, the creative midfielder joined the Longhorns and was considered the number one scouted player in the USA. In Austin, she did not disappoint.
From 2021-2024, Missimo made 89 appearances and registered an extraordinary 116 goal involvements (56 goals, 60 assists) at UT. She holds the school record for both goals and assists, while also having more total goals and assists than any NCAA player during those four seasons.
With half the USL-SL season played (14 matches), Dallas sits second in the table with 23 points. The season will restart on February 15, when Trinity takes on Tampa Bay Sun at home.
You can stream all USL-SL matches on Peacock.
